Community
Cohesion - Change Up Project
CHANGE is a one year initiative led by the Centre for
Equality and Diversity, funded by Capacity Builders UK as part of
its Improving reach programme.
Aims
Build the
organisational skills and knowledge capacity and strengthen the
strategic influence of the BME voluntary and community sector by
establishing infrastructure support for the sector in Dudley in
order to strengthen the role of the BME voluntary and community
organisations in public service delivery and influence mainstream
provision.
CHANGE will enable CfED to:

Provide and improve access to organisational development support
for BME groups, Refugees and Migrants groups and Faith groups
-
Improve CfED capacity to offer one2one, group support to
organisations and enable the sector to participate in the local
planning and decision making processes such as Local Area
Agreements, Community Plan, through establishing issues based
forums in the areas of Health, Education and Skills, Economic
Development and Enterprise

Support the development of Progress through Partnership, an
emerging consortium of BME led Service providers seeking to
deliver effective public services in Dudley in the areas of
Children and Young People, Healthier Communities and Older
people, Economic Development and Enterprise and Stronger and
Safer Communities
Project Outcomes
CHANGE will have significant impact on the Borough of Dudley
in various ways.
- Increased
capacity and confidence of BME groups to deliver effective and
efficient public service delivery

Establish regular dialogue between BME groups representing both
faith based and community based organisations to improve
partnership working and increase understanding and co-ordination
-
Influence improvement
in relationship with mainstream service providers regarding
services for the BME community
-
Improvement in the
funding base and sustainability of the BME voluntary and
community sector.

Increase in the
involvement of the BME / faith based community sector at a
strategic level in public services agencies ensuring the
developments in Dudley are equality focused and outcomes are
equitable
