Governance
The Centre for
Equality & Diversity (CfED) was formed in April 2006. The activities
of CfED is funded from various sources including the Commission for
Racial Equality and Dudley MBC. It however works independently from
local government.
Legal Status
The CfED is a company limited by guarantee (no. 5745005) and a
registered charity (no. 1114821) in England. The CfED objects,
powers and framework of governance are set out in The Memorandum and
Articles of Association, which can be accessed via the website.
The CfED has a Board of Directors and two separate committees, each
with clearly defined functions and responsibilities, to oversee and
manage its activities.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is CfED’s governing body. There are 11
members who meet six times a year and is responsible for policy,
financial affairs and a wide range of other business.
Finance & Policy Sub-committee
The Finance & Policy Sub-committee has responsibility for decisions
and matters relating to accounting, finances, allocation of
resources, and policies pertaining to the work programme and
strategic direction of the organisation. It has 5 members from the
Board of Directors and is serviced by the Finance Manager and
normally meets four times a year.
Human, Operational & Resources Sub-committee
The Human, Operational & Resources Sub-committee has responsibility
for issues relating to the employment of staff and the operation of
CfED. It has 5 members from the Board of Directors and is serviced
by the Office Manager and normally meets four times a year.
